# DC505 Hardware Setup & Controls

### How the Setup Works

The DC505 uses three video connections:

* Gaming PC video output
* DMA PC video output
* Main gaming monitor

The gaming PC is shown as the lower video layer, while the DMA PC is shown as the upper overlay layer.

Your gaming PC, DMA PC, and monitor must all use HDMI, or they must all use DisplayPort.

### Requirements

#### HDMI Setup

For full HDMI performance, all three connected devices should have HDMI 2.1 FRL 48Gbps support:

* Gaming PC GPU
* DMA PC GPU
* Gaming monitor

Recommended minimum GPUs:

* NVIDIA RTX 3060 or newer
* AMD RX 6500 XT or newer

#### DisplayPort Setup

All three devices must have DisplayPort 1.4 or DisplayPort 2.1 connections.

Minimum supported GPUs:

* NVIDIA GTX 10-Series or newer
* AMD RX 500-Series or newer

#### DMA PC CPU

A CPU with at least 6 threads is recommended for the DMA PC.

### Port Overview

#### Power Ports

**DC12V**

Connect the included 12V power adapter here.

**12V3A**

Optional backup power input.

This connection is not normally required.

#### Rear USB-C Port

The rear USB-C port near the power connection is used for:

* Firmware updates
* EDID injection
* Device servicing

It does not need to remain connected during normal use.

#### Front Collect Port

The front USB-C Collect port is used for the integrated capture-card function.

Supported connections:

* USB-C to USB 3.0
* USB-C to USB-C
* USB-C to Thunderbolt
* USB-C to USB4

### HDMI Connections

When using HDMI, connect the ports as follows:

* **HDMI Main / Host:** Gaming PC graphics card
* **HDMI Secondary:** DMA PC graphics card
* **HDMI Display:** Gaming monitor

### DisplayPort Connections

When using DisplayPort, connect the ports as follows:

* **DP Main / Host:** Gaming PC graphics card
* **DP Secondary:** DMA PC graphics card
* **DP Display:** Gaming monitor

### Initial Setup

1. Turn off the gaming PC.
2. Turn off the DMA PC.
3. Turn off the gaming monitor.
4. Turn off the DC505.
5. Decide whether you are using HDMI or DisplayPort.
6. Connect the gaming PC GPU to the Main / Host input.
7. Connect the DMA PC GPU to the Secondary input.
8. Connect the Display output to the gaming monitor.
9. Connect the included power adapter to the DC12V port.
10. Turn on the gaming monitor.
11. Turn on the gaming PC.
12. Turn on the DMA PC.
13. Press the DC505 power button.
14. Wait for all three video connections to be detected.

#### Power Button

* Pressed inward: Power on
* Released outward: Power off

## Front Button Controls

The DC505 has four front-panel buttons labeled K1 through K4.

### K1 — Information and Compatibility Mode

#### Short Press

Displays the current device information in the upper-left corner of the monitor.

#### Hold for 3–5 Seconds

Cycles through the compatibility modes:

* **Mode A:** Adaptive mode
* **Mode B:** Native mode
* **Mode C:** Injected EDID mode

The DC505 automatically restarts after switching modes.

Start with Mode A.

Try Mode B when the monitor or computer is not detected correctly.

Use Mode C only after injecting a custom EDID.

### K2 — Keying Strength and HDMI Link Rate

#### Short Press

Increases the overlay keying strength.

Available values:

* `0`: Keying disabled
* `5–255`: Increasing keying strength

The default value is `5`.

#### Hold for 3–5 Seconds

Switches the HDMI link rate between:

* 10G
* 12G

The default setting is 10G.

12G is recommended for some RTX 5070 Ti or newer GPUs and certain newer laptops.

### K3 — Overlay Mode and Reset

#### Short Press

Cycles through the available overlay and fusion modes.

The keying strength returns to the default value of `5`.

#### Hold for 3–5 Seconds

Resets the device settings.

This resets:

* HDMI link rate
* Keying strength
* Related operating settings

The selected A, B, or C compatibility mode is not changed.

### K4 — Display Source and Capture Mode

#### Short Press

Switches between the gaming PC and DMA PC display.

This temporarily disables the overlay function.

#### Hold for 3–5 Seconds

Switches between the two capture modes:

* **UVC 0:** Captures only the gaming PC S1 signal
* **UVC 1:** Captures the final combined output

## Status Lights

### DC

Monitor signal indicator.

When the DC light is off:

1. Check the cable connected to the monitor.
2. Confirm the correct monitor input is selected.
3. Reseat or replace the cable.
4. Turn the monitor off and back on.

### RH

Fusion status indicator.

* Light on: Fusion and keying enabled
* Light off: Fusion and keying disabled

### S2

DMA PC signal indicator.

When the S2 light is off:

1. Check the DMA PC video connection.
2. Confirm the cable is connected to the graphics card.
3. Check the cable.
4. Restart the DMA PC.

### S1

Gaming PC signal indicator.

When the S1 light is off:

1. Check the gaming PC video connection.
2. Confirm the cable is connected to the graphics card.
3. Check the cable.
4. Restart the gaming PC.

## On-Screen Information

Short-press K1 to display the DC505 information in the upper-left corner.

### MAIN

Displays the resolution and refresh rate received from the gaming PC.

Example:

MAIN: DP 2560×1440 321HZ
```

### SECOND

Displays the resolution and refresh rate received from the DMA PC.

Example:

```
SECOND: DP 2560×1440 321HZ
```

### ALPHA

Displays the current overlay keying strength.

* `0`: Keying disabled
* `5–255`: Keying enabled

### Link Rate

Displayed between ALPHA and BD.

Possible values include:

```
8G10G12G
```

### BD

Displays the installed firmware build date.

### ID

Displays the unique hardware identification code.

### EDID

Displays the selected compatibility mode:

* `A`: Adaptive mode
* `B`: Native mode
* `C`: Injected EDID mode

### SEC

Displays the activation status:

* `YES`: Activated
* `NO`: Not activated

### UVC

Displays the selected capture mode:

* `0`: Gaming PC signal only
* `1`: Combined output
